Michael A. Johnston published his article "Should All the King’s Horses and All the King’s Men Put the Queen and Her Counsel Back Together Again" in the Criminal Lawyers' Association's magazine, For the Defence (at (2014) 35:3, 21):
"In the Superior Court most of us wear wool robes in keeping with the wonderful tradition that if counsel wear the same robes, a judge, or jury, will not be able to tell the difference between a rich man's lawyer and a poor man's lawyer, at least not based on their clothing. However, a counsel's demonstrated ability to act honourably, to try cases and causes, and to lead others is something worth celebrating, and formally distinguishing, in silk."
